With every setting sun and the imminent night, Jacob
felt a little bit more of his essence bleed away. The simple act of lighting
the candle…of sending up a beacon into the void became ever more difficult to
him as time wound forward with him locked in place, no longer a part of it.
Before much longer, he would lose any chance of finding
someone…anyone…to avenge the death so undeservedly and so inescapably visited
upon him.
He was not the dark man’s first kill and would, most
certainly, not be his last unless someone…anyone answered his final cry for
help…soon.
